Five documents to prepare before you apply

A complete application moves through screening faster. Here is what to have ready.

Most delays at the screening stage come from missing or unclear documents. Gather these before you start your application:

1. Valid government ID and a passport photograph. The name must match your BVN and NIN records.

2. CAC certificate or cooperative registration certificate. Required for SMEs and cooperatives; micro businesses can apply without one.

3. Six months’ bank statement. Use your business account where you have one. It helps the credit desk understand your cash flow.

4. Guarantor form, or a group guarantee for cooperatives. Your guarantor should know your business and be reachable by phone.

5. A simple business plan or a proforma invoice. If you are buying equipment, a supplier invoice is enough. Otherwise, a one-page plan explaining how the loan grows your business.

Remember: applications are free. The Agency never asks for payment to “process” or “fast-track” a loan — report anyone who does.
